Hi all,
I am an erlang newbie and also a git newbie (I am strong with Java
and mercurial :)
I have big trouble building nitrogen under windows7 64bit.
I have cygwin and I have downloaded Git at http://msysgit.googlecode.com

When I try
[lang/erlang/nitrogen>make rel_inets
./rebar get-deps
==> rel (get-deps)
==> nitrogen (get-deps)
Pulling nitrogen_core from {git,"https://github.com/nitrogen/
nitrogen_core.git",

"HEAD"}
ERROR: "c:\Program Files (x86)\Git\bin\bash.exe" -c ""c:\Program Files
(x86)\Git
\bin\git.exe" --version; echo _port_cmd_status_ $?" failed with
error: 127
make: *** [get-deps] Error 1

I got the same error also with git from cygwin.
How can I manually launch git?
Thank you!

Personally, I have no idea.

My recommendation, since it's probably unlikely you'd host a production nitrogen site on windows, would be to install virtualbox (from Sun/Oracle) and then use that to install ubuntu (or your linux distro of choice) on a virtual machine.

Since all of my actual physical web servers run ubuntu, transitioning from dev to production is a breeze, and I don't have to deal with the headaches of running Erlang and Git with Windows.

I have chosed Nitrogen because it could run on windows and it seems
easier to understand (also the setup was good enough).
Anyway thank you.

Fair enough.

There are others on this mailing list that have successfully gotten nitrogen running on windows (hopefully they chime in for you).

I've not tried erlang and windows for a few years, so I'm afraid I won't be able to be of much help.

Sorry and Good luck!

nitrogen on windows, wow, perhaps this will help
http://code.google.com/p/msysgit/

but as Jesse suggested, you should install http://www.virtualbox.org/
and any linux flavour and then run erlang/nitrogen from this.
