template inheritance question

I have successfully used the template inheritance / expansion
mechanism for using variables in the parent template

{.meta-left}myVar{.meta-right}


But what is the best way to bring some logic into the parent
template ? E.g. how can I include fragments in a parent template,
whereby the name of the fragment will depend on the value of a
variable ? Or is there a complete different way to achieve this ?
