Next week, I'm heading to Provence for an "atelier" with the French composer Bernard Cavanna (http://www.bernardcavanna.com/bdir.html) at the Académie Musicale de Villecroze (http://www.academie-villecroze.com/index.html). The program will culminate with a concert of student works on July 31, at 8:30pm. We’re writing for string trio, soprano, and accordion (!). My pieces are very slow. Villecroze is between Aix-en-Provence and Nice, if you happen to be in the area.
In October, I’m expecting a performance by Debra Takakjian of my Six Short Pieces for Piano (http://nissimmusic.org/music/six_short_pieces.shtml) at the Armenian Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Paris. This will be my first musical appearance within Paris city-limits. And at the end of the year, my orchestration of a traditional Algerian song will be performed. More details as they become available.
Since the last newsletter, I’ve been very busy copying a lot of music (my own and other people’s). After I get back from Provence, I’ll finish transcribing a long solo piano piece that’s proving a terrible beast, get back to work on a piece for piano four-hands, and get started on an orchestral piece.

La semaine prochaine, je pars en Provence pour un « atelier » avec le compositeur français, Bernard Cavanna (http://www.bernardcavanna.com/bdir.html) à l’Académie Musicale de Villecroze (http://www.academie-villecroze.com/index.html). À la fin, il y aura un concert des œuvres des élèves, le 31 juillet à 20h30. Nous écrivons pour trio à cordes, soprano, et accordéon (!). Mes morceaux sont très lents. Villecroze est entre Aix-en-Provence et Nice, si vous êtes dans la région par hasard.
En octobre j’attends l’interprétation par Debra Takakjian de mes Six Short Pieces for Piano (Six Petites Pièces pour Piano, http://nissimmusic.org/music/six_short_pieces.shtml) au Cathédrale Sainte-Croix des Arméniens à Paris. Ce sera ma première présentation musicale dans Paris « intra-muros ». Et à la fin d’année, mon orchestration d’une chanson traditionnelle d’Algérie sera jouée. Détails quand ils deviennent disponible.
Depuis le dernier bulletin, je suis été très occupé en copiant beaucoup de musique (la mienne et cela des autres). Après mon retour de Provence, je terminerai avec la transcription d’une longue pièce pour piano seul, je recommencerai avec un morceau pour piano à quatre mains, et je commencerai une pièce pour orchestre.
J’ai mis un nouvel enregistrement de « Omie Speaks » sur mon site Web. C’est une grande amélioration en comparaison avec l’enregistrement précédant.
