The big news this month is that Sarah's documentary about applying for
political asylum in the United States, American Purgatory, is finished
and online. I wrote the music. She's shopping it around to stations
hoping to get it aired in the next few months. In the mean time, you
can listen to the whole thing, including my incidental music, at
http://www.americanpurgatory.org

That's me in the credits, here, http://www.americanpurgatory.org/credits.html

Also, the massive Wedge Miniatures (for oboe and piano) was performed
twice last month in Stony Brook - thank you to Sally Wall and Eriko
Nagai for putting it together pretty much all by themselves. The
sound is online already! at

Otherwise, it's been a month of putting down the groundwork for future
projects - a new piece for voices in a sort of Gregorian chant style +
linguistic mash-up that will be performed in Croatia in June,
hopefully outdoors; a piece for amplified Baroque trio for this coming
winter; more arrangements of older things for new ensembles which
might appear as early as May (I'll keep you updated, he says
conspiratorially).

The blog has a fresh picture of Natasha the cat, and also some musings
on the musical connection between Morton Feldman and Carl Orff -

Until next time,

Nissim
