The big news this month is that I have a concert coming up in 3 days.
It's been a tortuous path to get it ready, and I'm feeling a little
jerked around by everyone involved, from my composition teacher to the
mayor of Sevran - but I'm starting to get excited, too. If you happen

The concert is kind of a run-through for 3 movements of what will be a
9-movement piece for oboe and piano called Wedge Miniatures.
Otherwise, this month I've been working on background music, for a
film and a radio documentary. It's odd writing music whose goal is to
be relatively uninteresting.
Also, I've been doing some more writing on the /writings page
(http://www.nissimmusic.org/writings.shtml) - about a couple of
concerts I went to see at IRCAM, about the ever-present question of
where the money to pay for my profession should come from, and drawing
charts as a compositional tool, etc. I admit that the prose is a
little dense, but give it a try, eh?
Finally, I'll try this again because nothing much happened last

Good, bad, whatever, I'd really like to hear what you all think works
and what doesn't, and why.
Projection time - next month, it's more background music, and maybe
getting started on some new harpsichord preludes.

ps. If you consciously signed up for no email at Google Groups, and
are all bent out of shape to be getting this in your mailbox, I
apologize profusely. I think Google Groups's default of not emailing
anyone about anything led the first newsletter to be an exercise in
shouting into an empty room, through a soundproof door. But if you
really don't want any email from me, you probably know how to change
the settings back, or write to me and I can switch them for you.
