I'll start with the exciting news - QNG-Quartet New Generation is
going to play Everybody's Going There on November 1st, at 7:30pm. In
Reno, Nevada. If you know anyone in Reno, send them along. The
details (including driving directions) are here:
http://www.unr.edu/pas/qng.htm
and on my website (http://www.nissimmusic.org/calendar.shtml)
QNG is here: http://www.quartetnewgeneration.com
Also on the program is music by contemporary composers Kazimierz
Serocki, Chiel Meijering, Fulvio Caldini, and Michiel Mensingh - and
Renaissance and Baroque works by Tarquinio Merula, Alfonso Ferrabosco
II, Cipriano de Rore, and John Bull.
tickets are $20 adults / $17 seniors / $12 students. The show is at
the Nightingale Concert Hall on the UNR campus.

The month of October has been dedicated to finishing 4 harpsichord
preludes by November 1. The music is done, so I'm down to finishing
the details of notation, which is both frustrating and time-
consuming. Next I have to get back to writing for chorus, piano, and
violin. I can admit the name of the text now, since I have permission
from the publisher to use it - it's excerpts from Les Exercises de
Style by Raymond Queneau.

Related to both the above pieces are two concerts already on the books
for February - save the dates! Feb. 10, in Stony Brook, the Baroque
trio Flying Forms (http://www.flyingforms.org) will play an
arrangement of the harpsichord preludes. And on February 22, the
Orfeo Duo (http://www.orfeoduo.com) and their Neighborhood Composers
Chorus will premiere Les Exercises de Style in NYC. I'll probably
also be giving a talk about Les Exercises de Style at some point
before the concert. Details on all will follow in their due time.

That's about it for now. Enjoy your Toussaint vacation (oh, right,
only the French get that)
