First, thank you for signing up on the list!
Here's the news for this month:
1) I've started a blog on my website, at the /writings section
(www.nissimmusic.org/writings.shtml) It's confined to the subject of
the process of writing music. There are a few posts up -
unfortunately, I've been madly busy for the last few weeks getting a
piece together (more on that below), but more will go up in the next
month.
2) Comment on my music! Taking advantage of the blog's interactivity,
you can now post a comment on any of my pieces that have audio on the
site. Please do - I'd love to get a discussion going about what works
and what doesn't, etc. You can access the comments pages either via
the /music section or the /writings section.
3) Wedge Miniatures! On June 29, Wedge Miniatures for oboe/English
horn and piano will get a partial premier at the Espace Francois
Mauriac in Sevran as part of my composition class's year-end concert.
I don't know many details yet, but will pass them along in next
month's newsletter. In the end, the piece will have 9 movements; so
far 6 are done, and have just been sent to the performers! The music
is based on the same material that my recorder quartet was based on,
but with the piano, the chords can get much bigger...
4) What I'll be doing next month - working on the last 3 movements of
Wedge Miniatures and scoring a bunch of film scenes, not to mention an
hour-long radio documentary.
