AUDITIONS NOW OPEN!

Pickle Tales: Battle of the Podcast Stars

Pickle Tales is a brand new podcast competition for audio storytelling.

Contestants will write and produce five-minute audio skits, stories or
essays on the assigned theme for each round. Listener votes will
determine who moves on to the next round. Each round narrows the field
of competition until at last, a final winner is selected. The winner
will receive $250 cash and 1 month of free banner ad space at Podcast
Pickle!

Best of all, the auditions are COMPLETELY OPEN to anyone! Not a
podcaster? Not a problem! All you need in order to audition is the
ability to record and submit an mp3 file! And if you can't do that,
just send an email to pickleta...@gmail.com and we'll help get you
started!

Auditions begin on Sunday, October 15th, with the very first Pickle
Tales challenge: "Tell me a story"

Contestants will have until Wednesday, October 31st to submit their
audition pieces via email to pickleta...@gmail.com.

Audition pieces must:

    * Relate to the Audition Theme, "Tell Me A Story"
    * Begin with a clear statement of the contestant's name, and the
title of the piece. (Collaborations are allowed, but all contributors
must be identified.)
    * Be five minutes OR LESS in length. An entry that is five minutes
and twelve seconds in length will be played without the last twelve
seconds. There is no minimum length requirement. The introduction
mentioned above is not included when determining length.
    * Be no more risque than "PG-13" in content. Meaning, no swear
words, no explicit sex, or graphic violence.
    * Be a "podcast premiere". This is a competition for new material,
not for previously podcast work. So don't just search through your
archives. Create something new!
    * Contain only podsafe material. No music, sound-effects, or
content that is copyrighted by someone other than yourself.

Further, by submitting a piece to Pickle Tales, you agree that the
work is your original creation and that you are allowing us to
distribute it under a Creative Commons Attribution, Non-Commercial,
No-Derivatives 2.5 License.

Here is what the competition will entail:

All audition entries will be reviewed by the Pickle Tales production
team for creativity, writing, and skill of production. They will
select twelve entries to proceed to Round 1. But don't worry, even the
auditions that aren't selected for the main competition will be played
on the same feed in special episodes.

The twelve (12) contestants selected by the Pickle Tales team will be
split into two rounds of six each, and the first six audition files
will be released via the Pickle Tales Web page and RSS feed on Monday,
November 5th, and critiqued by the Pickle Tales judges, but voted on
by listeners. All are eligible to vote, and each person is allowed one
vote per round. Voting will be open for three days, and on Friday
November 9th, we'll announce the results. The top three vote-getters
in each round will proceed to the finals.

On Monday the 12th, we'll repeat the process with the remaining six
contestants, and once again, the top three will advance.

As soon as the final six competitors are announced, the next challenge
will be issued, and the remaining contestants will have one week to
write, produce and submit their entries for Round 2.

As before, listeners will have three days to vote for their favorite
and the top five will proceed to Round 3. Each successive round will
eliminate another contestant until at last, we have a winner!
If you have any questions, just drop us a line at
pickleta...@gmail.com and we'll give you the scoop.
