Subject: Standing our Ground
At 4:30 PM Tuesday 9/29/09 Port Commission President Bill Byrant and
several other Port Leaders visited Nickelsville.  Around the same time
Monday 9/28/09 Nickelsville had been visited by the Chief of the Port
of Seattle Police.  While both visits were friendly we were told each
time that Nickelsville could not continue to use Port land.
Nickelodeons were encouraged to leave 'voluntarily' or face being
swept.

Many Nickelodeons have decided to take another path.  We will stand
our ground until a permanent site is found, and move at that time.
There are too many unsheltered homeless people in Seattle to give up
now.  Our friends are invited to join us.

At 9:00 AM this morning the Nickelsville Central Committee meets at
Nickelsville.  You are welcome.  Sometime in the hour or two after
that, the Port has said they will impound all cars in the T-107
Parking Lot.  (It does not appear this edict extends to Herring House
Park's Parking Lot, directly to the north.)

By 1:00 PM today it seems that the Sweep of Nickelsville will have
begun.  But the community has nowhere to go.

Last Saturdays' One Year Birthday Party was a well attended and happy
occasion.  Thanks to all who attended.

As has happened so many times in the past year, today Nickelsville's
survival is again at risk.  Your presence, witnessing, and peaceful
participation will increase our chances of surviving another year.
Please join us today and come whenever you can.  We cannot predict the
Ports actions, but suggest coming as soon as possible.
