Hello,
I was going to propose but instead built (in all of 20 minutes) a
helpful cross-platform website that automatically detects if a doctor
in the UK should treat an immigrant asking for treatment. It's a fully
responsive HTML5 application that works with *all* devices that
connect to the web (although it's untested on IE6).
The BBC reports* that, "Migrants' access to the NHS would be
restricted" after the Queen's speech of 8th May 2013. Jeremy Hunt,
health secretary, has identified** that immigrants are clogging up UK
hospitals.
Obviously, this application can't come soon enough:
http://doitreatthisimmigrant.com/
(If you don't see anything you'll need to wait for DNS to update, I
only registered the domain 1/2 hour ago - however, it works for me).
The source code can be found here (pull requests welcome!):
https://github.com/ntoll/doitreatthisimmigrant
There's even a RESTful API:
http://doitreatthisimmigrant.com/doi.json
http://doitreatthisimmigrant.com/doi.xml
I'm not sure that I'll be able to make NHSHD4 (due to family
commitments) so this may need to be my remote contribution. If I can
make any of the days it is likely to be Sunday.
Best wishes,
Nicholas.
