[Hermanas Triathlon Team]

My Dearest Hermanas,

Its been seven years now since our time together in 2006.  So much has happened and through it all I've missed you and have thought of each of you as the time has passed.  2006 was a life changing year.

 

Today I'm sending my deepest apologies for not reaching out and being a better friend.  To the few of you I have seen I am grateful for the time spent.  To all of my Hermanas, I know we will always be connected and that is why I am sending you my news.

 

I turned 50 (yes, can hardly believe how it creeped up on me:) in September.  Patty and I hiked the Camino de Santiago for three weeks, and what a journey it was. Although it was very challenging the beauty we experienced during our 200 miles was like none other.  The big surprise was that she proposed and we talked about getting married next Fall......that brings to mind..   A HUGE HUGE FELICIDADES TO OUR HERMANAS MARIELI AND her beloved...and CATHERINE & INGRID.

 

At the end of September we returned to Seattle and ran the Bellingham Half Marathon (a ritual we do every year).   During our drive home, our car was horrifically struck by a drunk driver at 70 mph that sent our car spinning out of control into the opposite lane, we struck the side of a mountain, the car went airborne 15 feet and flipped landing on its side.  Our car was completely demolished. It is a miracle we crawled out of the car after being trapped for 45 minutes.  Yes, it was a nightmare.  The good news is there were no fatalities and we are recovering.

 

A few days later Patty asked me if I was ready to get married next month. I said yes.  As you can imagine given the timing, it will be a very small ceremony. We chose to say our vows here at El Centro de La Raza. I feel very blessed.

 

I simply want to share my news.
