Not much action this evening--almost as many spotters (7 folks) as nighthawks (9).

It could be wet tomorrow, but the weekend forecast is for warmer temps and favorable wind direction. We'll keep our fingers crossed...

Only seven nighthawks this evening and one last evening. There has been good help on hand, so we're ready for the coming spectacle.

Six of us recorded 104 nighthawks this evening. The majority were in the last half hour!
For the most part the birds were to our north, but coming in from the east.

The group finally got to see a Peregrine this afternoon. It was hanging out on one of the local church steeples.

We are getting ready for some big movements...

With fairly good conditions and 21 folks scanning the sky in every direction, we were only able to find 34 nighthawks. The Peregrine flew by and while the numbers are diminishing, the chimney swifts are still feeding all around our viewing site.

Fingers crossed that a big flight is on the horizon...

Thirteen folks spotted 79 nighthawks, a peregrine, a kestrel, an Osprey, and a very young Bald Eagle. The conditions have been very good the last two evenings. There are good numbers being reported around the state, but no large flights for the Concord area, yet.

Great conditions this evening and thank goodness for the help as we recorded 1,043 nighthawks. Birds were mostly headed north, but coming in big flocks from the south and the east. Our youngest spotter was 9, and besides IDENTIFYING his first kestrel, he definitely spotted some groups for us to count…

We had 120 birds--all in the first hour; all to the south of us; and all flying due west. It seems like each evening is a very different adventure this migration.season.

Pretty nice conditions in the Concord area, provided eight of us some very good looks at 466 nighthawks. The early groups were buzzing north along the Merrimack River corridor. Once the breeze slowed down, there were plenty of birds feeding as they moved along.

Some other highlights were a high count of cormorants (11) for this migration monitoring; a continuing swift presence (at least 80); and a kestrel that was around all evening that we got to hear calling.
