going to aliant. Called and they say highest speek I am eleg for is
5mbps and currently at 6 with rogers. I thought aliant a bit cheaper
bc they told me 47.95 on a 1 year contract. Rogers is 47.95 for 6mpgs
with 30 days notice. They told me that it is a special and the reg
price without a contract is 57.95. Not sure if the person I was
speaking to was new or what bc thought was cheaper. I know it won't be
a problem installing however asked how about I can't install by myself
and need a tech to come by and they say a 99.99 install as rogers
0.00. Alot of people have told me that Aliant hsi is faster bc not
shared.... Is this what people have found? So seems to be good points
and bad with going with Aliant. I don't want to be under contract for
a price that is = to what I am paying without a contract however
rogers keeps limiting services so it may be worth it. First
newsgroups, then trafic shaping, now putting a cap on usage and if u
go over you have to pay for each additional Gig download. Can someone
tell me if they have made the switch and if it is worth it?

I switched because I was playing games online.
With Rogers all I saw was lag lag lag
Switched to Aliant and the lag went away
Rogers speeds fluctuate because it depends on how many people are sharing
your line and are currently surfing/download.
Aliant's speed depend on where you are located. As long as your home doesn't
move, your speeds will remain constant.
The install may seem easy but for me (and possibly for you) it's not just a
matter of installing software.
They had to run a new dedicated line from the pole to my home.
Aliant waived the fee ($99) because I was switching from Rogers
See if they can swing the same deal.
A friend was recently (within the past 3 months) upgraded and there was no
fee even though they had to do some pole work.

way you will hiy 60 gigs usuage. If you do then there is probably a virus
on your computer. The most I have ever used was 7 gigs and that was with
some heavier torrent downloading.

were movies that month that I wanted to see so I got them....I don't really
see the point in getting crap I'm not going watch. I have downloaded series
of shows that got upto about 30 gigs but that was before Rogers was keeping

movies, software and games :O.. But Aliant is owned by Bell now..Am I
correct in saying that? So I wonder will they be making policy
changes. They got busted recently over in issue with trying to stop
p2p software. What software are you guys using these days? Im using a
combination of frostwire (uses limewire pro source code) and utorrent.

Why they didn't offer this is strange, unless you don't have an Aliant
landline. Also, the self install is free. By the sound of it, you are
dealing with distance constraints and require a full install. If they tell
you that you don't qualify for a self install, then the technician install
is free.

Getting through the hoops can be frustrating, but overall once you switch,

internet service by far. A Rogers free life is the way to go.
