I don't see anything big for the Avalon. A dusting of a 5-10 cm tomorrow
looks to be worst of it so far though the wind might cause a few
whiteouts on the highway. Chance the temps might turn some of it to rain
later on too. The few days after that are an unsettled mix...cloud,
flurries, showers etc.

No big storms on the horizon at this point though.

I have to ask cause I'm fairly new to the groups. What do you do for a
living? Or, better question, how do you know so much about the weather
and are more right than people on tv/radio?

so basically we are looking at a possibly of having or not having, some sort

so....

Corey, she is no more right, or wrong, than the people on TV or
radio. The fact is she gets her information from the same place
as they do, generally Environment Canada.

Those who come here asking CD what she thinks about the weather
can easily get the same information that she would provide from
any of the weather sites on the internet, or from TV or radio.

but to his/her credit , those folks know he/she will do the work for
them so y not take advantage of that. it is a great service he/she
provides, nothing more nothing less, and it is greatly appreciated by
those that partake of the service.

i believe the issue of any "knowledge" or "expertise" that he/she has
or doesnt have has been dealt with and put to bed, \

it is a great service to those that havent got the time or dont want
to take the time to do it themselves

LOL! It takes far less time to log onto EC, and immediately get
the weather information you are looking for from professionals,
than it does to ask here and wait for a reply.

Once again I find myself agreeing with you Carter ole man. That’s
getting scary to me.
Nothing wrong with CD giving her take on the weather but I find it
amusing that people log on here and ask her for weather info, when
they could just as easily go to Environment Canada or The Weather
Network and get the same info. Sure you can even go to both these and
other weather web sites to get the local weather synopsis and
interpret it yourself. Why wait for CD’s info when it’s just a click
away? Basically she’s giving the same forecast as EC and TWN.

Who is only using CD for their info? Who is waiting for it, like you
suggest?
I usually check both Environment Canada, TWN and here for CDs info.
Personally I get more from CDs postings then the other sites. That
wont stop me from checking them too though. Helps to be cautious when
you do a lot of winter driving over the TCH and Salmonair line.
So just because you can check a website easier then CDs postings here,
doesnt change anything. Im sure, like me, most people are using CDs
post in conjunction with other sources, not in place of them. People
just love to find something to be negative about.

forecast? Nothing as far as I can see. She's not adding anything to
EC's forecast just a rehash of their written synopsis in her own
words. Nothing negative about it. Like I said nothing wrong with her
giving her forecast but I don't see why people have to ask for
information on here that can be gotten from a more reliable source.
Would you take medical advice from someone on here other than a
medical professional? Would you take legal advice from someone on here
other than a legal expert? Nothing wrong with giving opinions on
subjects here but to rely on it as a source of factual information
without any knowledge if the person giving the information is a
professional in the field is anecdotal at best.

I'm a retired young veteran with a love of weather and climate going
back to grade 3. As you can see from the responses, some people have a
real problem with that...I just offer my opinion on weather systems
using all the available information online - beyond EC's 5 day or TWN
forecasts (unlike some think <elbow. Pointing. Carter>. My primary
interest is long term trends (climate change) and seasonal patterns.

And I'm a woman...though some still have a problem believing that. LOL

It must really irk you that someone like CD can provide useful

movement of major systems, etc., and this helps me better understand
why the forecast is as it is.

Re professionals - the only difference by definition between amateurs

better at interpreting the data available to both. T^he amateur may
also have the advantage of looking at a far smaller area - for
example, we live in Upper Gullies, and I can often 'predict' that the

Corey, CD often gives us weather related information that EC or TWN
don't. She offers travellers realistic weather reports and while she is
not a professional (nor does she tout herself as being one) she is kind
enough to share her expertise with those of us who are interested in
asking for it.

At least she's not logging in each day like some and waiting for someone

I couldn't agree more, as i have said many many times it is a great
service that is being provided for those that take some solace and
comfort from it.

it takes a lot of time and energy to actually collect the information

then pass it on...a lot of folks wouldn't even consider assisting, and
that is commendable for sure.

my offer for a java is perpetual and will continue to be, as I am sure

Darryl, whether you know it or not, you have been quite condescending
towards CD and Her take on the weather and forecasting. She does do more
than simply google and regurgitate. She does interpret and put her own spin
on what the raw data says. Yes, anybody can find that data put how many can
actually interpret it? Some of us actually find it more accurate than the
"professional" forecast at times. And more honest as She is not afraid to
say that there are variables that are beyond anybodys control that could go
either way.

Her admitted amateur status in no way diminishes Her value any more than any
other talented amateur in whatever field. There are many other individuals
here who have no piece of paper attesting to their qualifications but yet
offer good advice based on their own experience and interest. There are far
more people offering useless or downright nasty opinions and we should
appreciate those that at least try to be helpful.

Hope that helps and stop by the next time you're in the building.

"i said many times it is a great service that he/she is providing, but

If that is not condescension I don't know what is. You need to look up
the meaning of the word. You can't even refer to her as a female
individual. You have been informed MANY times that she is a female and
yet you still refer to her as he/she. Not to mention the fact that you
say that it takes NO expertise or knowledge to do what she does...

And then you say that you are defending her...lol. I'm pretty sure she
can do without your defense...

While you're looking up the meaning of condescension try looking up the
definition of cognitive dissonance. lol

i dont know that, do u??

You have been informed MANY times that she is a female

but only by those that dont really know themselves...and for me that
is not important any more as the content of the post is what i try to
focus on and not the poster.....it is a work in progress i agree, but
i am working on it...dont be so eager to take a peice off me when i am

in fact i am working on that and am referring to the post and not the
poster as much as i can npow and in the future.

Yes I do, and so do you. She has told you herself several times yet you

Are you suggesting that CD doesn't know herself if she is a male or
female? She has told you herself many times. What reason do you have
not to believe her.

LOL...that is a crock of shit. So why the he/she then? Why do you
belittle her knowledge of the weather? Why do you feel that you have to
hi-jack every post where someone asks her about a weather forecast?

Is being civil really that foreign to you that you must work on it and
try harder. You wouldn't know but she was asking you to learn a second
language...Perhaps she is...

sorry havent netthe poster , and havent had any contact with anyone
that has.

You've not met most of the other posters here

it has never before been an issue for me and i will not ever address
it again with this poster as it is not important to me from this point
forward, the poster has given greatly in terms of time and energy for
the service of others, that is all that matters to me

For some personalities, Snipe, positive and negative attention are equally
reinforcing. They feed on both with equal appetite.

Yeah, I know. Harding seeks attention at all cost. He's unable to
distinguish between neg & pos reinforcement. It is all positive to
him...It doesn't matter that he looks like a fool in the process. In
his deluded mind he is always right...

But he's an intriguing subject who likes having his chain pulled. And,
most times I like pulling it... ;-)

Sorry Snipe, but Darryl went from intriging to insulting a long time ago.
His Christmas lamentations were right on cue though; pitifully predictable.
I have no idea who he thinks he's fooling, much less impressing.

Happy Holidays to you and yours, Snipe.

Beats seeing the truth, I suppose.

I'll wish you the gift of self-awareness instead of Happy Holidays; you need
that much worse.
