Birded Bay Bulls to Mobile early this morning from 6:00 to 8:00
with no luck.Fog is pea soup thick. It lifts a little the further south
you go.Mobile is full of Gulls I'm assuming the Capelin are
rolling.Heading out again soon.
Chris,
I was also checking coves from Bay Bulls to Renews. Fog moved in early
and remained. Partially cleared during periods of rain. Like Chris
noted Moble bay was full of feeding kittiwake and puffin. Two
humpbacks feeding near the beach.
Lesser Yellowlegs totals were 3 Bay Bulls, 2 Cape Broyle, 1 Renews.
Also my first Black-bellied Plovers (3) of the season at Renews.
Turnstones now common. Peeps rare. At least one Willet chick observed
walking in the grass by a watchful parent. Both parent Willets
present but only one is watching the young. Knowing shorebirds, it
could be the male! The other is hanging out with the migrant Greater
Yellowelgs.
