Newton Police Officers/PBA Members Contribute to PSS Toy Drive

On behalf of the Sussex County PBA Local No. 138, the largest and oldest law enforcement organization in Sussex County; Newton Police Officers, Patrolman Steve VanNieuwland and Lieutenant Mark Zappa, delivered $500 worth of gifts to Project Self Sufficiency for their annual Season of Hope Toy Drive. As of today, the annual drive has gathered 8,920 toys for Sussex County children, according to the PSS website. Their goal is to have 10,000 toys by December 21st. Steve VanNieuwland, who is also President of the County PBA, stated “PBA members are glad to be able to contribute to such a great organization.”
Several Newton Police Officers will also be volunteering their time to assist Project Self Sufficiency during their toy drive when it is held December 16th and 17th.
Project Self Sufficiency of Sussex County is a non-profit agency which helps low-income families in the New Jersey counties of Sussex, Morris and Warren to achieve economic self-sufficiency and family stability.
