Two Subjects Arrested for Drug Distribution in Newton

On Monday May 6, 2013, Newton Police Detectives assisted the Sussex County Guns, Gangs and Narcotics Task Force with the arrest of two individuals for drug distribution in the Town of Newton.  The arrests were the culmination of two separate undercover investigations into the distribution of heroin, which occurred at various locations in the Town of Newton during the months of March and April.  The individuals listed below were charged with the following offenses:

 

Bret T. Jennings, an unemployed 19 year old male resident of Newton

·         2 counts of Distribution of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, N.J.S. 2C:35-5a(1)b(3), Crimes of the Third Degree

 

Heather M. Reid, an unemployed 21 year old female resident of Newton

·         Distribution of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, N.J.S. 2C:35-5a(1)b(3),  a Crime of the Third Degree

 

The warrants for the arrest of Jennings and Reid were authorized by the Hon. Judge John E. Mulhern, JMC, who set bail at $15,000 no 10% for Jennings and $7,500 no 10% for Reid.  Both Jennings and Reid were processed and lodged in the Sussex County Jail in default of bail.
