Hi there,

for all articles I download today morning to my Samsung S2 I get no
summary.
When I touch the article to view it switches to the summary screen. I
got a turning
cycle only. Normally I would expect the summary. Switching to web mode
works.

I have used NewsRob on my HD2 a long time. Now I bought a Samsung S2.
Yesterday I updated my NewRob to 4.8.1 on HD2 and installed NewsRob
4.8.1 on
my S2. Today I download the articles. During downloading on my S2 I
touched the
turning icon to watch the progress. This was the first time I did this
because it
was mentioned by NewsRob.

On my HD2 I get no banners like on my S2 and the articles are shown
correct.

Any suggestion?

This might be because of the feed specific settings that you can change using the Manage Feed menu item.

Do you still have the sd card from your HD2?
Check if you find the NewsRob directory there.
Uninstall/reinstall NewsRob on the new phone to competely delete the database. Dont sync NewsRob yet!
Copy the NewsRob directory over from the old phone's sd card to the new phone's sd card (/sdcard/newsrob). This will bring over your feed settings.
Launch NewsRob, do a Clear Cache and then a Sync.

Banners? You mean ads? Do you have the pro version?

At work I switched "Offline Mode" from "Wifi only" to "Enabled" and
the problem disappeared. I thought this is an issue of Android
2.3.3 ...

Thanks, will buy the app. :-) Good work!

Sorry the problem is not completely solved as I thought...

On my way home I synced via mobile internet. Then I switched off
mobile internet and read some articles summary. The summary
was displayed correct. I wanted to read the full article from web
and switched mobile internet on again (caching of web pages is
not active). After reading the web page I went back to the
article list. The following articles summary was not displayed.

So I bring reduce it to this:

When mobile or wifi connection is on, I can only see the first
chosen article summary. The second article summary view shows the
never ending turning cycle. When internet connection is switched
off before reading any summary, all articles summary show.

I got this with Android 2.3.3 (Gingerbread) on Samsung Galaxy S2.

I flashed my old HTC HD2 to Gingerbread 2.3.4 now and installed
NewsRob on it again. With HD2 I got no problem. But I don't
get the ads line on HD2 with the free version clean installed
from android market. I don't know why the ads are not showing
up. Maybe this is why the summary loads enlessly on S2 in
offline mode?

Please tell me if I can provide you with more information.

We need to start talking about a specific feed with a specific url. You also need to enable logging (please see faq) and then track down single instances of issues to find out what you're seeing. So far I don't know what's happening.

Article summaries of feeds with very brief content are sometimes not displayed until you tap on the header of the article twice. I have not been able to get to the bottom of this issue, but it also appears only very rarely, so it probably wasn't what you're seeing.

For the record: I have similar experiences on my SGS2 so it seems to
be device dependent.

I'll try to dig deeper with logs etc... (In my case, my Milestone
works perfectly)

Hmmh.

I checked the logfiles or Marco and don't see anything unusual.

Maybe it is an S2 issue like this one: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/newsrob/FGV6tXNRBbM

Let's wait for me to post a version to learn more about the issue above and try that version for this issue also.

Sorry for a late reply, (I've been snowed under with work for a week)

I can confirm that this is the same issue and that the special version
you posted solved the problem for me.

Thanks! / Jonas

Ok, great. Thanks for the feedback.

It's not the final solution as you can see from the other topic, but at least I now know where the issue is roughly located.
