i've looked at some of the other posts on here and i haven't seen
anything that helps yet; sorry if this is redundant.
I have the domain spontaneousfun.com. http://www.spontaneousfun.com-a.googlepages.com/
works fine, but when then i tried to change the settings so i could
get the same page with just www.spontaneousfun.com. i first had my
registrar set a cname record for www to ghs.google.com, and then i
went into the google apps settings and told it i had made those
changes and to change my page to www.spontaneousfun.com. it looked
like it all worked in the settings, but when i try to actually go to
www.spontaneousfun.com, all i get is a timeout. any ideas?

Did you register your domain name 'www.spontaneousfun.com' , if you
own your domain name, go to your domain name provider, get some
settings. Be sure it takes some time to work. A time out, it maybe the
domain name reflects an unreachable server.

i have registered the domain name spontaneousfun.com several years
ago. something is still wrong, as www.spontaneousfun.com doesn't give
me anything but a time out. as i said before, the cnam record for www
is set to ghs.google.com, but do i need to do something else as well?
maybe change the nameservers to something specific at a google domain?

I did search " www.spontaneousfun.com" on whois, but it says the
Referral URL is: http://www.easyspace.com
Take a look http://www.who.is/whois-com/ip-address/spontaneousfun.com/
Maybe something's wrong.

i guess i don't know what the referral url is. easyspace.com is my
registrar, as you can see in that whois you linked me to. how do i
change this? (i don't recall ever seeing settings for the referral url
in my domain management settings. and to what would i change it?

I'm not sure. Go to the domain name provider, make some settings, change the referral url for your domain name.

I am trying to do the same thing but i need some specifics. I
registered (through Google) with godaddy and I can't get my google
pages to come up with my domain name.

Maybe it's the answer: In the GPC Dashboard, go to Web Pages Settings
and then to Web Address - it will let you select either the
a.googlepages.com address or your own personal URL.

Hi ,
Go to the Site Settings link in your Web Page. There you will see
the option of HOME and there may be the three option.
Set the option to the page you have designed , you wil get rid of this
problem.

Regards,
Viyoma.

Hi There, I'm running into this issue as well.

I have followed all the steps above.
* I have created a CNAME record for my domain (flytickettoride.com)
* Created a page in GPC
* Published it

Still it seems to require me to go to the long .com-.a URL. In page
creator, every page I make says at the bottom "http://
www.flytickettoride.com-a.googlepages.com/<page>". Is that correct?

start.flytickettoride.com works fine, email is being delivered, but I
can't figure out how to get my page to appear at the simple URL.

Am I missing some big step?

Thanks in advance.

Go to  http://www.networksolutions.com/domain-transfer/index.jsp;jsessionid=56a301fb1f9d8ffffffffdc2d449fa6143d4:rSQT
And make some settings. Transfer your domain name to your GPC site URL.

Yes... I have done that, as I said above. Created the CNAME records
and whatnot. Everything seems to work except for the web page. Mail
works, start page works.. whois shows www points to ghs.google.com.

I have a similar issue. I am probably missing something. I get a
Server Not Found 404 error going to www.glamsteur.com. I own the
domain (through Godaddy), I create a GPC page and published it.
Start.glamsteur.com does not work either, but blog.glamsteur.com
published from Blogger does work.

What am I missing?

I created the following Cname alias

blog ghs.google.com
www ghs.google.com

Thank you for any pointer.

The   www.glamsteur.com  is going on well, I can access it without a Server Not Found 404 error. I'm not sure of  Start.glamsteur.com , it's a sub domain, Have you registered it?

It's better to register a root domain, not a sub domain, thus you can
get the web address without the www.

But it's OK. It shows the right name www.moscati.eu , not the
long .com url.
