New easier to install, open source preview release and support resources

We've got a new open source PHP-based preview release on GitHub.
There's a simpler installation process, a generic design skin for your
application and some cool new features. The first four developers to
successfully install it and post feedback on the installation process
will receive a $25 iTunes Gift Card.

I will like to know how to setup NewsCloud on a windows system, if not possible on which OS and how it is done.

Hello to all,
i was directed by a friend at Houston Texas, about NewsCloud. I will
like to participate on the system and learn more on how to develop a
news cloud web application just the same as the NewsCloud. i will be
grateful to get information on how to setup the NewsCloud platform and
on which OS should i do that.

Ebe, as I explained before... NewsCloud is a one person team right
now ... doing a new release is a time consuming process and I don't
have the time to focus on it right now. I am encouraging people to
adopt and work on the Social Media Toolkit - because it is a more
forward looking codebase.

I think a lot of people are waiting for a new release.

I can't think on a similar system.

I am willing to hire some programmers to check, repair and optimize
the code, if the NC-crew releases a more recent version.

If all the work is done, I am willing to release my fixed version back
to the community for free.

I think these are shortcomings in the old release Ebe. Unfortunately,
I think you'll probably need to patch them yourself.

At the moment I am installing and optimizing the Newscloud source.

I am having a lot of SQL errors:

If I search for: search/people/?age=all&gender= both&range=25

I get:

You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that
corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use

Neo, the SMT is designed to run a large number of subdomains with a
single codebase installation. This is pretty cool. And again Digg
isn't open source - so you won't be able to use their code for your
site anyway.

If you have a great topic idea, you can create a cloud at NewsCloud. I
would be glad to add it to the approved clouds supported by SMT if the
content is suitable. Send me more info about it.

SMT design stylesheets are just preliminary. This wouldn't be too hard
to customize on your own.
