Situation: I pull 10,000+ headers from a newsgroup. I quit back to the
newsgroup list and try to re-enter. I have to re-download the entire set
of the same headers I just finished downloading. I looked through the
SLRN manual and couldn't find a flag that will automatically save those
headers.

Has anyone found a decent solution to this? I've also looked into
slrn-pull but that seems to solve a different problem from what I'm
having.

Not sure if there is an slrn-specific setting to make this a little
easier for you but would an NNTP proxy server like leafnode 2 solve this
problem and make your usenet life a little easier overall?

Hi Andrew,

Thanks for replying.

I've never heard of LeafNode 2, actually. I will look into it when I get
home. I'm betting a caching NNTP proxy server is probably the best
answer for this SLRN-specific issue. In most (all?) GUI-based readers
I've used, the messages stay with the reader and the next time you open
your newsgroup, they're already all there and you just get any new
messages.

Thanks for the suggestion and I will look up LeafNode 2 when I get home.
