I would *assume* that this is an issue with the message, otherwise it would be showing up all the time which is it not.

Not using slrn, but just to add, no problems here with that post.

I too had this problem with my 64-bit HP Pavilion DV7 laptop. It
occurred with the Lexmark X7675 printer and caused problems with my
computer booting properly. After attempts at correcting this problem
through Lexmark and a new printer driver, remote assistance printer
install and a couple attempts with HP Support, I think I finally
fixed it myself. When I booted the computer in safe mode, I used the
"startup repair" option. Additionally I checked with the
manufacturer for a bios update and installed it. I hope this will
help someone else with this problem. The error message was
"Interactive Services Dialogue" "Runtime error, Microsoft Visual C++
runtime library" "Program:C:\\windows\system 32\spoolsv.exe"
"Application has requested the runtime to terminate in an unusual
way".

I am unable to reproduce this with recent development versions. I
tried both 32 and 64 bit versions. Are you sure that you posted the
headers that caused the problem? If so, please try a more recent
development snapshot. Thanks, --John

If you are interested in updating to a more recent development snapshot
of slrn, as JED as suggested, there is some Ubuntu documentation:

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/slrn

which should guide you (especially under 'Utilising the svn slrn).

About all I can suggest is to send me the contents of slrn.log,
generated via:

slrn --debug /tmp/slrn.log

Make sure that you encounter the error, and you might want to remove
any sensitive information from the log file.

Thanks,

That's probably where the trouble is: A b0rken References line with a
truncated MID.

That's very likely a copy'n'paste error. The article in question does
have complete references. At least on the servers I am using.

And I thought that was a case of 'not spotted because it was displayed
right of the right margin'.
