[pan] getting pan on a memory stick

I'm about to tell qwest to take their phone monopoly and get bent, which
will leave me without broadband and landline. I still have need of
usenet, usually to ask questions about remodeling that I don't have
experience in.

So it is that I'll want to have a newsreader on a memory stick that I can
fire up on someone else's, net-connected machine. First question:

How do I take pan off of ubuntu and get it onto the stick? I used to do
this with windows and dialog, but I knew where the whole installation
lived.

How about the whole "shebang"?
