This post isn't much more than a test. If anyone has tips on how to
customize it, I'm all ears. Cheers,

Mind you strictly speaking slrn does not _lack_ a gui, it has no _need_
for a gui :).

Do you think that's air you're breathing?
How to "customize" it? How about go through the menus, RTFM, and JFGI.

Proper GUI!? WTF is a proper GUI?
A GUI may be proper for you, but most are PIA, for me. Gotta use two
input devices instead of one, gotta move from one input device to the
other, config menus are usually based on someone else's pre-conceived
notions and not quite so granular, requires more cpu and memory load
to display, yada yada.....
Sorry, pal, but a GUI for text is hardly proper.

Well, nb, I like being able to right-click and have something happen.
This is an example of something you can't do with your caveman
technology. I right click and select russian:

I've got double-trouble going on in that I don't know the OS and don't
know the apps. I think I've found a good ubuntu newsgroup. My previous
experience is mainly with dialog on windows, and there seems to be a lot
of common features.
What I don't see is a sample killfilter like they had in dialog. If
anyone has a killfilter that works in Pan, I would love to see it.

The menus look pretty similar to what I had with dialog. One
customization that I had with dialog was that I created a button that
would fetch an entire thread.
As for googling, did you think before this suggestion? How are you going
to disambiguate this pan from every other pan out there? It's like
googling for "shoe."
As is so often the case, there is no manual, so your double-dropping of
an f-bomb seems to have been in compleat ignorance.
I think that you find that filtering in the re-write PAN 0.133 isa not
highly satisfactory. I would suggest looking into using leafnode or the
like to add to the filtering.
A very good source of information and help with PAN is the Pan users
mailing list.

can I config it to select hooters? ;)

Funny you should ask. As I understand it, the pan score file is
pretty much a straight copy of slrn. Bwahahahahah.....

Jesus. You use something like "pan newsreader option" or whatever.

There are many sources of information. Learn how to do some research,
and you may begin to understand.
By the way, all of this would be considered "configuring", no
"customizing"...
Well, whatever you do, don't try something like a google search for "pan
newsreader score" ...
Sheesh.

I do plenty of research. When I did my first google for pan I got some
totally gross transgender shit. That's enough to take the wind out of my
sail for researching more.

That works. Thx.

I'm not a hater. Did you know that the Matthew Shepard Act went to
Obama's desk?

Troll? I think not.
What did you find wrong about my answer there above? Perfectly accurate.

What part of my answer there above strikes you as "asshole quality"?
It's a perfectly correct and accurate reply.

Someone doesn't use articles. They aren't properly supposed to be in
acronyms anyways.

It means not including the "s" after "thank"
...it also can mean "Pain In (the) Ass" ... or depending on which part
of the planet you come from; "Pain In (the) Arse" ... (as spoken here
in the antipodes)

Not "Pain In (the) Antipodes"?
Mike "arsepodes?" Yetto

In practice they are not.
