I love Pan 0.135 (Centos) but I'm finding that some of the free
newsservers are mighty flaky - so - I find myself removing servers and
putting them back on when they come back online to be a pain.

With Pan 0.135 on Linux, the only choice is to delete a server
(you can't just 'disable' it).

With Pan, you can also set the news server to be a "secondary server" -
but that doesn't really seem to accomplish anything useful (as far as I
can tell).

Given that some servers are flaky, it seems that any nntp client that
allows multiple news servers should simply have an enable/disable
checkbox.

That way, instead of having to *delete* the news server, one could simply
*disable* it temporarily (until the server goes back online).

My question:
Q: What's a good (linux) nntp client that can enable/disable news servers?

slrnpull? I don't use Linux, but I *think* you can use slrnpull as a
localhost and connect the reader of your choice to it, not just slrn.

Or would that be leafnode?

Thanks.

I'll have to look them up as I've never heard of them.

Pan can do it. Set your Connection Limit to zero.

When a person has -- whether they knew it or not -- already
rejected the Truth, by what means do they discern a lie?
