Greetings - I'm stumped by newsfeeds and don't know where to look. The
nntp server at dictatorshandbook.net has been hosting local groups for a
year now and working fine, so I thought I'd peer with albasani.net. The
nice folks there agreed, and the web page at [1] provides the
parameters. I edited incoming.conf, newsfeeds, and infeed.conf as
instructed, and INN dumped core each time I tried to start the feed.
/var/log/news/news.crit shows "albasani.net funnel_bad." But I'm not
finding much help in man pages or on the web to fix it, and of course
the old "Managing Usenet" book, which I own, is way out of date.

The issues seems to be newfeeds. If I leave what was requested, it
crashes INN. But if I change the feed from Tm to Tf (from funnel to
file) or even to Tl (log) it reports no errors. I've replaced
"usefulstuff" with the feeds I'd like to send to albasani (dictator*).

My question: is it because for funnel feeds to work I have to configure
something else? Where to begin?

Many thanks -

I want to say when I copied and pasted from his website there was an
error or some extra white space that was causing me trouble.

funnel_bad normally means that the named funnel target (in this case,
"innfeed!") is not defined anywhere in newsfeeds.

Please post questions rather than mailing me directly.
<http://www.eyrie.org/~eagle/faqs/questions.html> explains why.

Russ - That was the tip that got me over the finish line. Turns out the
config supplied by FreeBSD comments the innfeed section out of
newsfeeds. Activating those config lines got the feed going with no
complaints. Thanks.
