17 minutes to retrieve an article

What you see in the attached log happened with nn/6.7.3 connected to the
news.albasani.net NNTP server. I'm getting similar hang-ups with my
provider's newsserver too (INN 2.4.5).

These long delays show up whenever nn has been left inactive for [some]
minutes (about 15 in this case). It looks like it does not 'know' that
the NNTP server is not replying (maybe the connection is closed?)

If you are willing to fix this and need further experiments, just ask
and I'll test and report; or you can use news.albasani.net read-only,
even without an account.
