I am a new user of the newsgroup and I want to learn it more. Thus I
want somebody teach me about using this.

Welcome to newsgroups and Usenet. Posting here is an excellent way to
start learning about newsgroups. They are my favorite part of the
Internet. news.newusers.questions used to be an extremely busy
newsgroup, and one of the best ways to learn about newsgroups was just
to read this one, but in the past few years it has become very slow. :-(

You'll notice I quoted what you said, to give context to my reply, and I
am posting my response _under_ the context. Quoting too much material
with just a one or two line comment (whether above or below the quoted
material) is considered rude in most newsgroups.

You posted in plain text, which is an excellent start--keep it up.

When posting questions in newsgroups, you are expected to come back to
the newsgroup and check there for any responses to your question or
post. I'll be sending you a copy of this in email, in case you're not
yet aware that you're supposed to come back to the newsgroup for the
answer. Also, since this is a hand moderated group, my response in the
group may be slow in appearing on your server.

In "open" newsgroups, your post would appear on the server immediately
after you send it. In moderated groups such as this, the message is
instead sent via email to the newsgroup moderator(s) and won't appear in
the group until they have approved it. That may be almost immediately,
if the group is "robomoderated," or there can be a delay up to several
days if it is hand moderated and no one checks for messages for several
days.

Newcomers to newsgroups should start here

<http://computer.howstuffworks.com/newsgroup.htm>

and here

<http://www.anta.net/misc/nnq/>, the Official Home Page of the
newsgroup called news.newusers.questions.

Here's lesson n1: stop using Google Groups and access Usenet through a
newsreader and a newsserver.

How about, "You would probably enjoy newsgroups more if you used a news
reader rather than Google."

I think it would be nice if folks who enjoy Usenet realize that there
are people out there who never heard of Usenet, much less a news reader.
Rather than attack them immediately for using Google, how about
letting them appreciate Usenet and decide that it's worth their time.
Then maybe they might have some incentive to transition to accessing
newsgroups via a news reader. Demanding that someone invest the time to
acquire and learn a new piece of software, before they even appreciate
why they might want to do that, doesn't seem reasonable.

Rather than harping about the evils of the Google interface to Usenet,
might it make more sense to recognize it as a potential source of new
users? People who stumble onto Usenet via Google may realize that it's
a valuable resource that they want to know more about. We were all
newbies at one point . . .
