New LP of rare and unreleased vintage jams by psych-funk icons Black
Merda.
A Rare Hunk of South Louisiana Funk!
With the release of Get It Don't Stop on Funky Delicacies, this
extremely rare hunk of south Louisiana funk is now available at 2% of
the price it costs to win it on EBay on its original label. Though
this was produced by zydeco legend Rockin' Sidney, astute fans of Mr.
Simien know that during the 60s and 70s he kept pace with trends in
music (he scored his own late career hit with My Toot-Toot). This
album ups the ante on its funk quotient by its incorporation of two
even rarer tracks previously only released on 45.
Rare and Unreleased New York Funk, Soul and Dance 1964 - 1980
Oscar "Flame 'N' King" Richardson had a voice equal to the great
balladeer Chuck Jackson, but he chose to chase every dance trend that
passed through uptown New York in the 60s and 70s for which he
sacrificed the reinforcement of an artist's identity. Collected
together for the first time on vinyl and CD, this album offers a
sweeping retrospective of New York rhythm and blues through the
popcorn of the early 60s through to soul, funk and dance, culminating
in his underground classic "Ho Happy Day".
Rare and Unreleased New York Funk and Soul 1969 - 1979
Willie Feaster and The Mighty Magnificents were one of metropolitan
New York's premiere working bands during the funky 70s. The pride of
Jamaica Queens, they crossed the same paths as Newark's Kool and the
Gang and Harlem's Flame 'N' King. While the Magnificents had a hit
with "Funky 8 Corners" on All Platinum (the label that preceded Sugar
Hill), Feaster recorded a fair amount of material for tiny indies such
as L. Brown's and his own Smog City. Though the Mighty Magnificents'
repertoire was broad enough to include sweet soul ballads (which will
be included on the CD counterpart), this LP concentrates on the
danceable soul, boogaloo, and funk that packed New York auditoriums of
the five boroughs from the late 60s to the early 70s.

45 RPM reissue specifically for funk collectors which boasts two
extremely rare and highly collectable promotional recordings made for
the CITIZENS ALLIANCE for VD AWARENESS featuring legendary wordsmiths
Wolfman Jack and Gylan Kain, founding member of the Last Poets. Spoken
word set over exceptional funk, each side offers a glimpse of

Rare Hip Hop and Electro (1982 - 1985)
The electro-rock phenomenon in hip-hop was a fleeting but
extraordinary moment in which the faster tempos of the dance community
met with the sound and fury of hip-hop. While most recordings that
were popular then and have survived to this date reflect the downtown
(i.e: white) approach to this music, the body of work that comprises
Captain Rock "To The Future Shock" is very special for its
representing the uptown take on this music. Abetted by the veteran
street savvy stewardship of the Fantastic Aleems and the rhyme and
lyrical skills of Alonzo Brown (Andre Harrell's partner in Dr. Jekyll
and Mr. Hyde) and the fine turntable work of DJ Darryl Dee, Captain
Rock "To The Future Shock", culled from the vaults of Harlem's Nia
Records, captures lightening in a jar for its highly successful uptown
take on a downtown take on uptown music.
Rare Northern Soul 1965 - 1968
Tuff City's Soul-Tay-Shus label presents another offering of Detroit
'60s (Northern) soul from the D-Town vaults. With vocal power that
equalled the Temptations & Curtis Mayfield's Impressions, the Peps'
recordings featured session musicians from Motown's heyday including
the legendary Funk Brothers (Detroit sessions) and also musicians from
the Hi Rhythm section who rose to fame backing the likes of Al Greene
(Memphis sessions). This compilation features originals such as
"Speak Your Peace" and "With These Eyes" and hip-shaking covers of
"Gypsy Woman" & "So Fine." The CD features 5 additional tracks not
available on the vinyl counterpart, profoundly vivid liner notes by
veteran writer Mike Hurtt and many previously unpublished photos from
the scrapbooks of the group members. The Fabulous Peps' "Detroit,
Michigan!" joins Lee Rogers' "Sock Some Love Power To Me!" (STS CD/LP
6347) in Tuff City's MOTOR CITY SOUL SOLDIERS series.
Rare & Unreleased Jams by Detroit Indies Recorded in Memphis 1965-1968
Soul-Tay-Shus Records presents a CD that will uniquely appeal to fans
of both Northern and Southern soul. Northern Souljers Meet Hi Rhythm
captures a '60s soul-centric moment when Willie Mitchell's Royal
Recording Studios achieved a nation-wide reputation for being able to
provide not only studio time but stellar studio musicians who would go
on to become the legendary Hi Rhythm section. Like the removal of
layers from a painting to reveal a hidden masterpiece underneath, this
album exposes, after 35 years, the Memphis roots of some of Northern
Soul's most highly regarded recordings. Donald Bryant and Hi Rhythm
provide the blueprint for Detroit Soul icons like the Fabulous Peps,
Lee Rogers, and Buddy Lamp. Many of these tracks are previously
unreleased and have been mixed from the original multi-track tapes.

<p>Tuff City's Soul-Tay-Shus label presents another offering of Detroit
'60s (Northern) soul from the D-Town vaults. With vocal power that
equalled the Temptations & Curtis Mayfield's Impressions, the Peps'
recordings featured session musicians from Motown's heyday including the
legendary Funk Brothers (Detroit sessions) and also musicians from the Hi
Rhythm section who rose to fame backing the likes of Al Greene (Memphis
sessions). This compilation eatures originals such as "Speak Your Peace"
and "With These Eyes" and hip-shaking covers of "Gypsy Woman" & "So
Fine." The CD features 5 additional tracks not available on the vinyl
counterpart, profoundly vivid liner notes by veteran writer Mike Hurtt and
many previously unpublished photos from the scrapbooks of the group
members. The Fabulous Peps' "Detroit, Michigan!" joins Lee
Rogers' "Sock Some Love Power To Me!" (STS CD/LP 6347) in Tuff City's MOTOR
CITY SOUL SOLDIERS series.</p></span></FONT></td>

reveal a hidden masterpiece underneath, this album exposes, after 35 years,
the Memphis roots of some of Northern Soul's most highly regarded
recordings. Donald Bryant and Hi Rhythm provide the blueprint for Detroit
Soul icons like the Fabulous Peps, Lee Rogers, and Buddy Lamp. Many of
these tracks are previously unreleased and have been mixed from the
