From the article, Time-Warner is going to shut down their Usenet
service altogether, and Sprint and Verizon are going to shut down either
alt.* or large portions of it.

I'm not really sure what to say about it. It seems like a pretty
poor excuse to do it, but I suspect it's just an excuse.
