Subject: Google First Click Free Program
Hi
We are already have 20,000,000 articles in Google news, and wondering
on how to participate in the Google First Click Free Program.
Our site is subscription based, so of course we are not being indexed
as well as we could.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

Bill

Good question Bill, but remember subscription sites aren't indexed
less--they just require a little more TLC to get set-up correctly :)

If you've followed the instructions in our Help Center (http://
www.google.com/support/news_pub/bin/answer.py?answer=40543&topic=8871),
you shouldn't run into any problems solely because you're a
subscription site. We accept sites of all walks of life here at
Google.

Now if you still want to go forward with first-click free (and I hope
you do!) the implementation is all in your power. The basic idea is
that your site must allow referrals coming from any Google domain or
subdomain to hop over your subscription page. There are a lot of
different URLs they could come from, so include any top-level domain
matching http://*.google.*

Et voila! Now a user won't encounter your usual registration prompt if
they click on a link to your article from Google News. But once
they've finished digesting your amazing reporting and want to read
more, future clicks don't have the google referrer and will therefore
take them directly to a registration prompt. Unless, of course, you're
feeling generous.

Oh and once this is done, you should still contact us using the forms
in the Help Center so that we can make sure your name is no longer
displayed with the "(subscription)" tag.
