At the risk of sounding like a total dork----what format do you guys use for your social media news release? I downloaded the awesome pdf of the template provided by the nice people at SHIFT. But what document/program do you build your releases in. Thanks for helping a newbie. Michelle Lamar

This topic is very timely. My personal opinion is that we should have a variety of formats or themes to choose from. For those who worry that this might be confusing for journalists, I think journalists will have other tools that will allow them to view the releases in a common and familiar format.
PRX Builder is actually running a little contest of sorts, just to see how creative we can be with the release format.
Anyone is welcome to submit a template. We'll review the pages, make an extremely biased decision, and pick some winners.
The winners will be prominently featured on the PRX Builder.com site and will have a permanent attribution on the template. The templates will be available for anyone to use.

I saw this online...a site to build a social media-esk file.
I'm guessing that there isn't any default "social media file" as much as it is simply a guideline for how to present social media. I could be wrong.

So you all are going to finally take the wraps off your service? Good news - been wondering when we were going to see that from you guys. Is technorati involved?

Hi Chris I write one business blog and two "other" blogs. Business blog is called the emerging customer. It's at emergingcustomer.typepad.com. Can be found at the direct url later this week. Blog is a customer/crm based blog. Just started it a few weeks ago.
I write a parenting blog called...white trash mom. It's at whitetrashmom.blogspot.com. Believe it or not, it's going to be a book published by St. Martin's press in 2007. Pretty funny, huh?
I also write a blog called "Shallow and Tacky". It's silly and really random. Don't know if it's going anywhere yet but it's fun. I was a partner in a niche social network, second chance fashion. But we are selling it and so can't say that for much longer. I am excited to join the social media club and plan to do so in the next few days.
Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I really appreciate the help. This is so new and I have found that professionals in the PR field (that don't know about social media, new media formats, technology) tend to blow off innovative things like the social media press release. So it's been hard for me to get advice about smpr until now. Glad I found this forum and the social media club. It's awesome.
