Welcome to the New Mexico Outdoors Coalition.

Purpose:

NMOC is a network of public, private, and non-profit organizations and interested individuals who are committed to conservation and outdoor recreation.  The Coalition is an open and inclusive forum for communication and collaboration with a goal of creating more opportunities to connect people to nature and respect the environment.

To join:
  1. Send an email to the address: new-mexico-outdoors-coalition+subscribe@googlegroups.com (no subject, no body)
  2. Click "Join this Group" when you're membership is confirmed via email

Operating Guidelines:
  • NMOC meets regularly as an open, round-table dialogue to share information, facilitate networking, and identify and act on collaborative efforts and projects as appropriate.
  • Participation in NMOC meetings is open to all—any individual or organization with an interest in New Mexico outdoor resources, activities, programs, and policies.
  • NMOC has no membership fees or dues; costs for food and beverages at meetings (e.g. coffee, snacks, lunch) are borne by each participant.
  • NMOC has two co-chairs, elected annually, who develop meeting agendas, arrange meeting logistics, and coordinate other actions.  One co-chair is drawn from a governmental organization and the other from a non-governmental and/or private sector organization.  Co-chairs change annually, though an individual may serve as a co-chair again after sitting out one year.
  • NMOC takes no policy positions nor conducts any advocacy as a distinct entity.
  • NMOC can serve as a forum and resource for considering and adopting advocacy and policy positions and statements by members regarding conservation, education, health, and recreation issues.

This listserve was created to facilitate information about projects and initiatives that connect New Mexicans to the outdoors.  Topics include conservation, recreation, education, health & wellness, tourism, youth engagement, and job creation, to name a few.  Modeling the signature projects for America's Great Outdoors (AGO), we realize many other worthy initiatives are taking place throughout New Mexico that are in-line with AGO, and welcome open discussions about those initiatives here.

Guidelines and Tips:
  1. Please keep this listserve a positive place to communicate about projects and initiatives related to New Mexico's outdoors
  2. Please put enough information in the subject line, so that people with no interest in the topic can quickly delete.
  3. To send a message to the members of this group, send an email to new-mexico-outdoors-coalition@googlegroups.com
  4. Please hit "Reply" and not "Reply All," unless you want your message going to every member of this group.
  5. This listserve is not a soapbox, battleground, or vehicle for propaganda, advertising or showcasing.  Keep dirty laundry where it belongs.
