Description: Group for discussing the Neuros Next Generation Products (Includes the Neuros OSD2.0, OSD, 442v2 and Neuros3).

Happy 2010 to you all + new year bug report
First, what the subject says. My best wishes to the team at Neuros, and all the list members whom always cope with my late night rants. ;-) Second, I finally managed to upgrade to OSDNG. I found two pressing bugs: ...configuration, and which I originally reported on FEBRUARY 9, 2009, is STILL ALIVE AND KICKING. I had to re-enable the DHCP server on my home... more »

OT: Command line mp3 and wma cutting?
Is anyone aware of any command line tool for cutting mp3 and/or WMA files from the command line? It should operate at the disk (file) level, without loading the whole file into memory. I have a 450MB+ wma file that, when loaded into Goldwave, is apparently extracted to uncompressev wav taking several gigabytes of... more »

How do I create a yaffs2 image for OSD2 with dsplink and cmem which works standalone?
I have problems creating a standalone Neuros OSD 2 image (YAFFS2) with cmemk.ko dsplink.ko and codecs. Everything is copied alright from rootfs/fs, but it doesn't work in runtime. The NFS image created from the same source (rootfs/fs) works fine. I have been checking the images/build_pkg and rootfs/Makefile rules to see if one or the other... more »

FTP SERVER OSD
from FAQ ([link] FAQtid=48&GENtid=57): I have a hard drive connected to my OSD, can I copy files to it remotely? This capability is not built into the OSD by default, but there is an easy 5-minute "hack" that will allow you to add this functionality. crweb has ported an ftp server that can be downloaded and run on the... more »

stability problems seem solved now xorg.conf woes the new delight
moving back to the old flash drives seems to have solved the stability woes, but I still have a TV here that just won't show an image. As you can imagine, this is severe limitation for a device intended to show video on the TV. sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-conf sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg -phigh... more »

filesystem woes on ubuntu install on LINK
In creating this new placeholder link (ubuntu netbook remix) image for the nVidia LINKs, while waiting for derobert's debian install, I'm coming up with a highly unstable image. I get sr0 errors when installing from cd, the install seems to complete ok, but I regularly get all kinds of disc errors either requiring fsck or sometimes its... more »

Google/YouTube falling on the side of a more restricted and discriminatory Internet
It was one thing when Hulu blocked Boxee. We all half expected that from Hollywood, but now YouTube is creating new restrictive tools and blocking some devices (not yet ours but its probably a matter of time). I just blogged about it. [link] (Nero, proofread if you get the chance, you're a good copy editor)... more »

XBMC Q (for Nero or anyone else)
Couple questions about the XBMC skin for the LINK: 1. Any thoughts about what would be involved in upgrading the version of XBMC to something newer? We've upgraded the LINK to Ubuntu 9.10 (image to be released soon) and curious to get your thoughts on what would be involved updating XBMC 2. the power button shuts down gnome, but in the XBMC it no longer (with new... more »

OSD2 serial port
I pulled my OSD2 off the shelf yesterday and heard rattling -- when I opened it up, the serial connector was laying next the board. I see several other posts about this, but no resolution -- has anyone been able to fix this? I tried unsuccessfully to re-solder.
