this is Matthias from the Disko team. I just want to share our current
status relating to the implementation of the Disko framework onto the
Neuros OSD2.
We've successfully integrated Disko into the Neuros build environment.
Therefore we preparative included some libraries, Disko depends on:
- Alsa 1.0.17
- Curl 7.18.2
- DirectFB 1.0.2
- libsigc++ 2.0.18
- libxml2 2.6.32
- sqlite 3.5.9
- xine-lib 1.1.14
Furthermore we wrote a DirectFB-patch, which enables DirectFB to support
the Neuros remote control.
What is working fine in our test application (will be uploaded shortly):
- Scrollable menu is set up.
- Menu items are selectable with remote.
- Several GUI-elements are tested.
Current Challenges:
- HDMI progressive output isn't working properly yet.
- Color reproduction is inaccurate on OSD-layer.
- Currently no hardware-acceleration in DirectFB due to open licensing
issues.
You can test everything by checking out the following project:
svn co https://svn.neurostechnology.com/hackers/disko morphine.tv
Remember, the test application is missing right now.
Regards,
Matthias

currently we're experimentalizing with the hardware acceleration of
DirectFB and we're confident to perform stable shortly.
To give you a more detailed insight: We received an invitation for the
finals of the A1 InnovationDays[1], which take place from 29th to 31st
of August. We plan to present a hardware accelerated SIP-demo running
on your box at that event. We plan to shoot a video of the prototype
demo and we'll send you the link.
The residual basic problem is that Texas Instruments doesn't provide
the functions needed by us with hardware acceleration. And we're not
allowed to release DirectFB due to licence issues.
Apart from that, there's nothing that keeps us from a fine performance
at the OSD 2.0.
