kirk graph

Hi All,
I'd like to plot a graph, as a kirk graph, all nodes on a circle.
Shall I use draw_circular or draw_shell? What's the difference between
them?

apparently both functions are the same. I uploaded the .png, which is
kirk.png

The graph has about 5000 nodes. I was wondering what those red dots
are, and why the line is so thick. If the nodes are too many, does
networkx places many nodes on different circles collapsed together?
