Hi Ahmed,
About ftp, it's short for *f*ile *t*ransfer *p*rotocol, each ftp site
requires a user name and a password of course to prove you are a member of
that site, but a lot of the ftp sites are for anonymous login (random login
- free login) all you need is the name of the ftp server, try these:
http://freeware.intrastar.net/ftp.htm
that sites has lots of ftp clients (like cuteFTP)
and you can always try chaning any sites from
http://www to
ftp://ftp and try, some will not work but some will
here is also another place where you can download ftp clients:
http://www.download.com/3150-2160-0-1-1.html?legacy=cnet
another thing, you can always use internet explorer for viewing ftp, even
reguler windows explorer will work, but they don't have the options found on
ftp clients
also the Free Download Manager can work as a nice ftp client, i personally
use that.
try this site as a test:
ftp://ftp.netscape.com/
it might not have many things but it is good for trying to browse it to get
to know ftp.
one more thing, if you have DSL at home, you can make your own ftp site so
you can use it from any place to get your files :) call me if you need more
information on that.
at the end i need you to check this link
http://groups-beta.google.com/group/NetworkingEgypt
it's our group, i added you with your Gmail email account, please add the
others because i made you a moderator to the group, we can all post our
questions as a message their and get an answer (like this email i am sending
to you)
Ahmed
