Shared libraries for Firefox & Thunderbird when?

Currently Firefox and Thunderbird each come with all the underlying
libraries etc. So if I'm running both programs simultaneously, I have
the same or very similar code loaded twice. If the two products were to
share a set of libraries less virtual memory would be used. It would
also speed the loading time for whichever product was loaded second.

Is there any sort of plan for the Mozilla products to get to this point?

Yes, The effort is basically the project being developed under the name
"XULRunner".

AFAIK, FF builds built on XULRunner will commence after the 1.1 is out.
