Hi,

Forgive me if this is a FAQ - if so, please point me to the document and
I'll stop bothering you!

I currently run Thunderbird (2.0.0.23) on my desktop machine. It stores
everything in a folder called khvlts68.default in my .thunderbird
directory (I'm running Mandriva Linux 2010.0, BTW).

What I'd like to do is to store the profile folder on a USB stick, so
that I can run Thunderbird on my laptop without having to import/export
stuff all the time - effectively the profile folder gets shared between
the two instances.

I've tried the obvious, moving the profile folder to the stick and then
trying to hack the profiles.ini file to point to the new location, but
that just plain doesn't work.

Could someone give me a heads-up on how to do this?
Thx!

Should work:
Stop thunderbird
edit profiles.ini:
[General]
StartWithLastProfile=1
[Profile0]
Name=Main profile
IsRelative=0
Path=<the usb-drive>:\<some folder>\khvlts68.default
Default=1

Start thunderbird

Works like a charm - thanks! I think I'd missed the IsRelative flag before.

Is there a version of Portable Thunderbird for your system?

You should be careful.. portable devices can be damaged easy. If the TB
container is broken, all messages can be lost.
