I don't know if it was the update to Mountain Lion or an update to the most recent version of Growl, but I am now unable to turn off Growl notifications from NetNewsWire.  In Growl, I have everything disabled and unchecked, but it seems to make no difference.  Every little NetNewsWire activity triggers a notification.  I don't see any setting within NetNewsWire to turn this off, and I've tried every obvious option within Growl.

If you're running Mountain Lion have you checked in the Notification Center? These may not be Growl notifications at all. Notification Center is in the top right corner of your menubar, and then there's a settings icon in the bottom right corner once you open it (or you can just go to System Preferences and open the Notifications panel from there).
