Anyone use a 6250 tape drive on a Sun?

We will soon have a network of Sun 2/50's attached to a Sun 170 acting
as a file server. There will be two 380 MByte Fujitsu Eagle disk drives
on the Sun 170. Nothing else is on the ethernet. We want to use a 1/2 inch
tape drive to do backups. Do people really use the 1600 bpi tape drive to
backup the Eagle disk drives. Doesn't this take forever?

Sun sells only a 1/2 inch, 9 track, 1600 bpi tape drive. What do people
in the real world use? Does anyone have a 6250 bpi tape drive attached to
a Sun?
