Have a need to have a VAX/VMS talk to a 4.2BSD Unix (Sun workstation).

We need the communication to be over a high speed communication line in
a network environment. Best would be TCP/IP on Ethernet, but
could live with DECNET protocol's on Ethernet.

Does anyone in net-land have any suggestions on sources for software to
do the above?

thanks,

COMPION does a rather nice TCP-IP implementation for VMS. Cost is
around $15,000 however. Seems like the best way to go to me.

At XEROX there is a package which runs under VMS which talks to
either a 3Mb (XEROX PARC controller) or 10Mb (Interlan) controller
talking either PUP or XNS protocols... It is being sold to the outside world
now, although I do not know all the details. Contact

Under UNIX there is 3Mb stuff that runs on 4.1 and is not yet (that I
know of) up under 4.2. ACC sells a package for XNS, although I do
not know the details, nor do I know of anyone who uses it with
XEROX's VMS implementation.

details.

Also, I believe that ACC will sell you a complete package with both the
VMS and UNIX end. They like to sell their hardware; I do not know if
they support any other. This package runs XNS over 10Mb ether.
