It seems that both of you have fallen into the trap! The English and the
American copies of _Life, the Universe, and Everything_ differ on this
point. The American publisher made Douglas Adams remove the word 'fuck'
from the book and so this version is slightly longer because he has to
explain why he is picking on Belgium. Unfortunately, I don't have my
copy handy, nor do I have the text burned into my brain, but I do know
where my towel is.
