So how many of you use mac fileservers???
I need information on setting up a network fileserver over Appletalk.
We already have one Hyperdrive 20, and want a few more hard disks. There

This is an update to a previously posted news item regarding the failure
of my Mac to keep clock time and date settings, and control panel settings.
It seems a circuit failed on the power supply board. Repairs under Applecare
took one hour and resulted in the replacement of the entire board.

Anyone aware of any known failures of the battery circuit on the
Mac 512 E. (E for Enhanced--with Mac+ roms). I am reporting one.
Symptoms are loss of clock accuracy and loss of control panel settings
(and no, the problem is not a dead battery unless one counts the

Use only SetPaths 1.3. Paul Snively - the author of setpaths and #1 Beta
tester of TML 2.0 says do not use 1.2 or 1.2, because they are buggy and 1.3
isn't. On using SetPaths, Snively never intended it to work with RAM disks.

Psion Chess's Copy Protection

Does anyone out there in net-land have any patches that will allow
Psion Chess to run off a Hard Drive without having to insert the Master Disk
every time? I don't really feel like paying about $60 for Hard Disk Util
and take the chance that it MIGHT patch Psion Chess correctly and load it

postings. Could some kind soul logically near the Northwest please *EMAIL*
me these files (if you haven't already deleted them). Unix Windows on the
Mac seems like a very clever idea if it is not too terribly slow...

I, too, have had this problem on my Mac+. Depending on the paths specified,
the compiler or the linker bombs the system. I have also been unable
to use TML 2.01 at all from a ramdisk. I think this problem may also
be related to SetPaths/HFS. I have yet to try the version 1.3 of
SetPaths that was posted to net.micro.mac, but that may fix both problems.
