Subject: FW: a good idea: ICE (In Case of Emergency)

I learned of this thanks to Bruce Madge on the LIS-Medical discussion
list. I think this would be a fantastic idea to be initiated in other
countries (US, Canada, Australia, etc.) as well. In fact, I emailed the
local TV stations & NPR the following message with the hope that this
could be publicized--you're welcome to copy it &/or forward this email:

Hello. There's a recent campaign launched in England by the Ambulance
Trust PALS; the following info is quoted by permission. "The idea is that
you store the word ICE in your mobile phone address book, and against it
enter the number of the person you would want to be contacted 'In Case of
Emergency'. It's such a simple idea but could be really helpful in an
emergency - it would save ambulance crews and hospital staff time and
would ensure that a patient's loved one was contacted as soon as
possible."

This is a fantastic idea, and it would be great if your station could help
get this initiated in the US.

Take care,
