Ive been messing around with NB for a while now, but i just cant seem
to get anything worth while to work. I play a rank 29 WH right now,
and the best i can do is single actions, which makes NB no more
effective than dragging the ability to my hotbar and pressing the
associated key. I have an idea of what i would LIKE to do, but i think
im just too retarded to get anything to work. If anyone would be
willing to help me out, that would be awesome, but i understand if
nobody does.

all of these are starting out from incognito.

If the target is melee dps (tanks included, even though they just kill
me anyway):
Use sudden accusations (builds CM 2)
Use feinted positioning (60s cooldown, 10 second duration)
Use Pistol Whip (requires behind target. If FP is up, no requirement.
otherwise, i only want it to pop up when its usable and my target has
no immunity.)
Torment till CM 5
Use Burn Away Lies (10s cooldown, 9s duration) -- I dont know if i
want this to apply if my target is <20% hp, but Im keeping it simple
Use Absolution if CM is 2 or higher (if its set to CM 2, will it fire
at 3? or only exactly 2? can this be done?)
Use Confess! when i parry the target, but only if the target doesnt
have immunity

Basically opening up from stealth, pop FP, build 3 more CM, pop BAL,
and basically spam absolution when CM is 2 or higher, and poping BAL
again when its off the cooldown, but the only time i want to use a CM
5 BAL is when i open. otherwise it would just be a CM 2 or higher BAL,
if that makes any sense at all.

If the target is a Caster (healer included)
Use sudden Accusations (Builds CM 2)
Use Feinted Positioning (10s duration, 60s cooldown)
*Use Silence the Heretic (Builds CM 1) (3s duration, 20s cooldown)
OR -- whichever of the two is currently available, and my target
doesnt have an immunity.
*Use Pistol Whip (3s duration, 20s cooldown) -- would like this to pop
up every time i can use it on the target, and they have no immunity.
Use Torment till CM 5
Use Burn Away Lies when CM = 5
Use Torment till CM 2 or higher
Use Absolution
Use Torment till CM 2 (repeat the torment / absolution cycle untill
BAL is off its 10s cooldown)
Use Burn Away Lies at CM 2 or higher

I dont know how to tackle squig herders right now, so i dont know what
i want to do for them, so i would just include them into the Melee DPS
since i dont want to silence them as i do healers and casters.

In all cases, i'd want to use Sigil of Sigmar (breaks roots and
snares. Makes immune to roots and snares for 10s) any time i was
rooted or snared. I dont mind leaving that out though if its too much.

I dont have Pistol Whip yet (i get that next rank) but i would most
likely be putting that in place of Silence the Heretic, since stun >
Silence, and i would also have it for BOTH melee dps and caster
rotations. infact, im just going to amend that right now.

the way i have those lists is generally how I run my rotation on
archtypes, so it might not be how its supposed to be in the NB code,
but the most important things are my executions (Burn Away Lies, and
Absolution), my reactionaries (Confess! disarms for 5s. can be used
when i parry) and ... i think thats about it.

Again, any help here would be greatly appreciated. i cant get this
addon to work for me, but i really want to take advantage of its
ability to simplify things. Thanks!

ive been trying to post a new discussion, but its not working so this
is my last option: posting in a WH related thread in order to try and
get some help.
Ive got just a few questions, because im having trouble figuring out
how to make a chain, but im not good with this type of "if then"
stuff.

im leaving Silence the Heretic, Sigil of Sigmar, and Confess! out
because its too confusing for me. its easier for me just to bind them
to E and Q and Alt-2.

I open with Sudden Accusations (manually) which gives me CM 2. I would
like to use Feinted Positioning right away as soon as its available
first thing in the chain and then use Torment x3 to get my CM 5
quickly. The only time i use a CM 5 is for Burn Away Lies, which is my
first finisher used, and after that, for the 9s its on my target, i
use Torment x2 for CM 2 and then Absolution:cm:2.

My chain looks something like this:

/nb add 1 [Feinted Positioning]:acd:[Burn Away Lies]:cm:5
[Absolution]:cm:2[Torment]

but its not working. i know its wrong, but i dont know how to get it
to work, or even do something close to what i need it to do.

Feinted Position then build to CM 5 with torment, then use Burn Away
Lies, then build to CM 2 with torment, then Absolution. I'd like to
work Burn, Heretic! in too but both Burn Away Lies and Burn, Heretic!
have 10s cooldowns, and i cant figure out what i would need to do to
get those to flow properly, or to even just get to CM 5 before
absolution fires off at CM 2 first =/

Hi Einrecht,

I'm sure you'll get some responses, but first off you don't need the
":" before each parameter set.

Secondly NerfedButtons performs cooldown checks on abilities by
default. The only time you want to use "acd" is if you want to enable/
disable an ability based on the cooldown of "another" ability.

A + indicated you need at leat many. A - means less than.

Altering your string will now give:

/nb add 1 [Feinted Positioning][Burn Away Lies]cm:5:+[Absolution]cm:2:+
[Torment]

Only problem I can see here is that [Burn Away Lies] will 'likely'
never get used as [Absolution] will always trigger when you have 2
Accusations stopping you from ever getting to 5.

This may be a better option:

/nb add 1 [Feinted Positioning][Burn Away Lies]cm:2:+[Absolution]cm:2:+
[Torment]

This will try and use [Burn Away Lies] Lies first, before [Absolution]
(they now hav the same requirements). As [Burn Away Lies] only has a 5
foot range, [Absolution] will get used instead of [Burn Away Lies]
when you are further then 5 foot.

yeah that was the issue i was bumping into. i've been trying to get
ANYTHING to work for the last.... 5 hours maybe. I realized that my
Burn away lies would never fire off because the addon was basically
saying "BAL needs CM 5, but i dont have that. Absolution needs CM 2,
ah ok yeah that works <BANG>" so what im thinking then is that i have
to make 2 buttons. one for my first initial attack of BAL with CM 5
and the second button would be just for torment and absolution, with
the BAL CM2+ like you suggested. so.. im going to try this next:

/nb add 1 [Feinted Positioning][Burn Away Lies]cm:5[Torment]
/nb add 2 [Feinted Positioning][Burn Away Lies]cm:2:+[Absolution]cm:2:+
[Torment]

Im going to try Feinted in both because i want the addon to check
every chance it gets, to pop the ability when its ready since its not
based on my target, and now, IF this works, i wonder if theres a way i
can somehow link the two buttons together, or make a way for it to be
all in one button (if not its ok, but the less i have to watch my
cooldowns and durations, the more i can focus on the actual combat and
my target). I was hoping for something that would make the addon say
"ok BAL is on the target now, so switch over to the second button." i
wouldnt need to swap back and forth because the only time i do a CM 5
BAL is right at the opening because i get CM 2 for free from Sudden
Accusations so it only takes a few moments of Torment to get there.
Outside of that, i would have to hope for a Flowing Accusations proc,
or hit Torment 5 times which eats too much time.

Sidenote: when i get pistol whip next rank, would this work?

/nb add 1 [Feinted Positioning][Pistol Whip]con:unst:-[Burn Away Lies]
cm:5[Torment] so that way i use feinted, pistol whip my target
without having to be behind them, but only if they are not
unstoppable. otherwise it just moves right on to the regular thingy.

Thanks for the help so far NerfedWar. The title of this thread here
really sums me up hehe.

and how could i get my snapshot to fire off if my target is out of
range for torment in any of those. would it be something like....

/nb add # [FP][BAL]cm:5[Torment][Snapshot] ? this just popped into my
head and im not able to log on and test anything out right now, being
as i am now in an art studio with no access to WAR =(

ill look through all the posts for info on "if my target is out of
range for X, can i have it use Y" type information. sorry for the
double posts here and the double posts in wrong threads and such =X

First, take a look at what you're requesting. You ask for 2 strings,
based on archetype, then ask for the EXACT same things in both of
them, with the sole exception of StH, which you claim to not even
really want. Anyway, here ya go:

/nb add # [Sudden Accusation][Fiented Positioning]e:8096:1:s:+:p
[Pistol Whip]:con:unst:-:e[Burn Away Lies]cm:5[Burn Away Lies]cm:2;e:
8096:s:-:p[Absolution]cm:2;acd:8116:+[Confess!]con:unst:-:e[Torment]

SA whenever possible... as in from stealth. FP, but only right after
SA. To do otherwise would have it being wasted a lot. You can either
leave out the Effect check on FP or leave it in and use a secondary
button for tactical use of FP. Pistol Whip every time you have
position (or FP) and your target doesn't have the Unstoppable buff.
Then we have BAL with 5 Accusations, but only if you've just popped
FA, otherwise you'll go ahead and use it at 2 Accusations. Whenever
BAL is on cooldown, you'll Abso at 2 Accusations. Beyond that you'll
spam Torment, inserting a Confess! every time you get the chance, but
only if they're not Unstoppable.

Unfortunately, there's not yet a check for if you're Snared/Rooted,
since there's not actually a flag specific to either of them, so
you'll have to do that seperately. If I ever manage to teach myself
any LUA, creating a custom check for Root/Snare will be my first
objective.

If you decide you don't want to BAL a target under a specific hit
point percentage (I don't recommend this) you can add ";hpp:
20:-:e" (or a different number) to one or both of the BALs ([Burn Away
Lies]cm:5;hpp:20:-:e)

For Snapshot, just add it right on the end of the string as written.
If you really want to pop FP every single time it's up, just leave out
all the stuff between it and PW.

Just thought I'd toss out there that I don't really reccomend Snapshot
in the string. The problem is that it tends to go off on closing or
"dancing" enemies, and the long build-up time can really hurt you.

Thanks for the advice on snapshot and such. In my head it seems like a
good idea, but im not used to having a single button do all the
thinking for me so its a bit of a change.

I know it seems like im dancing around on what i do and dont want.
basically whats going on with that is, i dont want the chain to be too
complicated because i dont exactly trust my ability to make everything
work nice and smooth, so i think "hey ill just keep this on Q or E and
not worry about it". then when i start thinking i understand how
something works, i think "hey i can just slap it in there because it
would mean i have to focus less on button pressing and more on actual
positioning / combat".

And add in the fact that i havent slept in a while, im hopped up on
caffeine, at work, and cant test much of anything out for the next
couple of hours, my mind is kinda sloppy right now to say the least.
Im sorry for being an idiot and flopping around. its excitement,
apprehension, and sleep deprivation getting the better of me.

I do appreciate all the help you guys are tossing my way. its
definitely allowing me to figure out better what i can and cant do,
and also what i do and dont want to do with the chain specifically.

Just by knowing my abilities, and reading through what you posted
above for the "all in one" type chain, i think im getting a good grasp
on how to use the different parameters.
I will take the Pistol Whip part out for now because i dont have it
quiet yet, but this brings up the question i had earlier:

when setting an archtype for an ability IE StH, would i have to make
two functions, or is there a shorter way of doing it.

[Silence the Heretic]a:rmdps:+:e;a:rsupp:+:e;con:unst:-:e

or would i have to do something else like this:

[Silence the Heretic]a:rmdps:+:e;con:unst:-:e[Silence the Heretic]
a:rsupp:+:e;con:unst:-:e

or does the "caster" composite archtype cover shamans, zaelots, magi
and sorc, allowing me to do something like...

[Silence the Heretic]a:cast:+:e;con:unst:-:e

please dont hate me, im just trying to understand hehe.

a:cast covers all magic-based rdps and ranged healers. I don't think
it covers SH/Eng/SW, and I'm not sure if it covers melee support (DoK/
WP).

I have just begun making real use of archetype checks, myself.

Alright, i gave your chain i go, and it seems to get caught up on the
[BAL]cm:2;e:8096:s:-:p part. when running through the chain like
normal, everything happens appropriately until i fire off the [BAL]cm:
5. it doesnt seem to be able to check if i have the buff from
Sudden Accusations on me, but i have no idea. i tried changing it
to ;e:8096:1:s:-:p and several other variants, including even just
trying to make BAL fire off after anything, but it doesnt seem to
work.

[BAL]cm:2[Abso]cm:2;acd:8116:+[Torment] doesnt work. even when i tried
to fire off Feinted Positioning just to make sure i was able to use
BAL when i had CM 2. but it still wouldn't work properly.

in all off the chain configurations ive tried, it will only advance
past BAL:cm:5 and just get stuck on torment. not sure whats causing
it.

I hadn't tried out the SA effect check myself, but what's it doing
wrong, specifically? I don't run BAL, so I can't properly check it.

I DO run something like [Exit Wound]cm:4[Abso]acd:<EW id>:+[Torment]
and while I'm not entirely happy with the chain, it works fine, so I'm
not sure. If I get a chance tonite, I'll play around with it and see
what I can figure out. Do you happen to spam the button really,
really fast?

generally i spam my button pretty fast until i see ive got an
appropriate amount of Accusations built up. so using that chain you
posted, ill spam for SA (because of target out of range lag) and once
i land that, FP is instant so it cruises through that aswell and goes
to either A) StH for casters, or B) torment because the cm:5 hasnt
been met yet. i build up to CM 5 and check the button to make sure BAL
is up, and almost every time i use the button, the [BAL]cm:5 works.
then when it starts checking for [BAL]cm:2;e:8096:s:-:p[Abso]cm:2;acd:
8116:+ i stop spaming at 2 accusations, but the button stays on
torment.

I made a second button just to specifically test what the issue could
be.

[Burn Away Lies]cm:2;e:8096:s:-:p[Absolution]cm:2;acd:8116:+[Torment]

when i use strictly this button with only that chain in it, on players
and NPCs i get the same result. torment forever. i thought it was the
positional requirement not being fulfilled on BAL, so the chain tries
to go to Abso, but since BAL isnt on cooldown, it then shifts over to
Torment, SO i tried poping FP on its own as i start this chain, but
still no BAL coming up. so i took the ;e:8096:s:-:p requirement off,
poped FP, and still torment forever. I've tried reordering the cm:2
and e:8096:s:-:p but no luck. i tried cm:2;e:8096:1:s:-:p, cm:2;e:<FP
id>:+ and a few others but none of them work. it just gets stuck on
torment.

so what i've done for the meantime, is kept it broken into 2 buttons.
the first one is just what you posted, all the way up to [BAL]cm:5 but
i changed it to cm:4
the second button is [Burn, Heretic]cm:2[Absolution]cm:2;e:8093:+
[Torment], 8093 being the ID for Burn, Heretic. since the first button
still works, and tries to use BAL every time i have cm 4, i can still
hit 1 for a 4 point BAL, otherwise, pressing 2 cycles between 2 point
Burn Heretic and 2 point Absolution (given Burn Heretic is on
cooldown). it works well enough, but even a 2 point BAL does more
damage than Burn Heretic, so it would definitely increase my damage if
there was a way to make BAL work.

but yeah, thats whats going on, and what ive been trying,

OK, thanks to Shayme's brilliant NB Sequence Builder not letting me
screw up my parameters, I believe I've finally got it.

/nb add 6 [Sudden Accusation][Feinted Positioning];e:8096:1:s:+:p
[Pistol Whip];con:unst:-:e[Burn Away Lies];cm:5:[Burn Away Lies];e:
8096:1:s:-:p;cm:2:[Absolution];cm:2:;e:8096:1:s:-:p
[Confess!];con:unst:-:e[Torment]

It's working in my testing, so far. Let me know how it goes.
