Looks as if Pete Dearness got out when he did. That was one of his top customers.

Thanks for the info

Curious where in Vermont. Expanding the plant on Richford, purchasing an existing plant or building new.

Forgot about that one. Does it still blend feed and deliver bulkcor is it just a factory store?

Maybe one of out Vermont members can answer that? The aerial photo makes it look like the two plants are of similar size.

The article in the Concord Monitor <http://www.concordmonitor.com/home/5270361-95/plant-feed-company-sichterman> states that the layoff only effects the bagged feeds.  Blue Seal will continue to deliver bulk feed and operate their company store in Bow.  I guess one could speculate that fewer small farms/livestock owners would mean less demand for pre-bagged feeds; commercial farms would want to buy bulk products.   Vermont might have more smaller farms, and greater demand for bagged feed?  Purely speculation on my part...

This might have a minimal effect on the overall number of railroad loads? I'm sure that Blue Seal would still like to see the return of 5-day/week rail services.

Richford is on the MMA so Blue Seal gets 5 day a week service usually.

Blue Seal also has a plant at Richford, VT on CP.  Rumor has it that CP switches them five-days a week.

Nearly 50 injured as Conn. commuter trains collide

SUSAN HAIGH, AP

Emergency workers arrive the scene of a train collision, Friday, may 17, 20...

FAIRFIELD, Conn. (AP) — Two commuter trains serving
New York City collided in Connecticut during
Friday's evening rush hour, injuring about 50 people,
authorities said. There were no reports of fatalities.

The Metro-North Railroad, a commuter line serving the
northern suburbs, referred in a news release to a
"major derailment" near Fairfield, just outside Bridgeport.
It said emergency workers were at the scene of the accident,
which came shortly after 6 p.m.

Bill Kaempffer, a spokesman for Bridgeport public safety,
told The Associated Press approximately 49 people were injured,
including four with serious injuries. About 250 people were
on board the two trains, he said.
