I can't seem to execute moves with a down+forward motion.

But the forward+down+forward motion seems fine.

I can also execute Terry Bogard's Power Geyser just fine... but that's
it.

I am quite aware that the DS Lite's d-pad sucks for diagonals, but
that's not the problem since I could execute all the moves on the
Gameboy version of KOF '96.

Anyone else having this problem?

And how did you manage to fix it without burning your thumbs? :D

I'm having the same problem, I can pull off dragon punches in SvC
Chaos and even Ryu's red hadoken (half circle forward motion) but no
regular hadokens (quarter circle motion).

I don't have any problems in Bleach DS, so I also think is a problem
with the emu

Yeah, i've noticed this in KoF'96 too. First I just made half circle
moves instead of quarter circle ones, but then I realized that you've
got to press button a little earlier before you press forward.

I can throw both in SVC. Try hitting F D DF F, works for me.

Anyway, I'm sure this little problem won't go unfixed.

By the way, Mr. Ingram, you're the coolest.

Cheers.

Well I tried it on DS Phat and PS Lite and can agree,

Ha do ken movements are a nightmare on the ds lite, yet dragon punch
move works fine.

Pleased to report I can get it every time on my ds phat, I love the
lite screen but that d pad sucks, it goes loose too quick and
diagonals are ridiculous, and before you say it's my thumbs the GBA
Micro D pad works ace, yet is same size as lite!

I think the GBA Micro has the best d pad, prefer it to the snes one
even!

Horrible, horrible d-pad.

I'd gladly trade in my Lite for a Phat just for the d-pad.

But strangely enough, the Lite's d-pad works perfectly for the Gameboy
version of KOF 96.

But then again, the third-party accessories currently available for
the Phat are next to none.

And the Lite is sexy as hell. Can't disagree with that.

True,

Maybe they worked some kind of routine into the gba version, I always
remember that the neo geo was really picky about getting the movements
exactly right, I was lucky enough to have one for a short time and
should have kept it!

It seems to me that the DS wasnt designed for this kind of game, which
is a shame.

I have a DS Phat which is better for the fighting games than my DS
lite, but not much.

I don't understand why all of you are saying that the reason for the
problem in question is lite's d-pad. Quarter circle moves work perfect
for me in Garou, and in other games the timing for pressing a button
after the move is just a little special (corrupted?). I've been
playing SFA3 Upper on my DS lite for quite a long time, and I haven't
had any problems with firing hadokens since I've started playing.

I don't think that the D-Pad is the problem.

I've been playing KOF '96 on the Lameboy emulator and all the moves
are fine.

So maybe there's something wrong with the NeoDS's controls or maybe
the Gameboy and Neo-Geo version of KOF have very distinct control
systems.

So what you are saying is that we all suck and ought to concentrate on
learning how to pull of these moves, instead of bitching like girls
about the d-pad?

That seems very unfair ;) ....
