Hi guys,

Great seeing everyone tonight and I think we had a pretty positive night.

I hope that both groups have enough understanding to the next steps to work together. Please let me know everyone opinions.

Our first unofficial " official" project night will be two week from tonight at 6 till ? in the garage and upstairs. I will send out more details tomorrow but I think we decided on another meet up style night where you can bring whatever you would like to work on with other members. Please feel free to bring people and both groups are invited.

Thanks again..

I've just discovered this group and I'm pretty stoked to finally have
a hackerspace in Cleveland. I'll definitely be there :) I have a
couple pretty interesting projects, though one is on hold for the time
being until I find a pair of 650nm laser safety goggles >.>

Hey Brandon

Welcome! What kind of laser are you working worth? Care to provide a description of the projects?

I've got a 250mW diode scavenged from a DVD burner which I have been
working on getting hooked up in a flashlight housing. I had a friend
let me into the Case undergraduate circuits lab to do the initial
work, but it still needs the proper focusing optics put in place.
Since I have to be shining the laser to do this, I need to get some
eye protection :p Goggles are about $30 online but cost almost as much
for shipping.

Aside from that I have an Arduino which I have a couple project ideas
for - my initial one is a temperature/humidity sensor for my snake's
terrarium which would report current conditions via an embedded web
server and adjust the on/off cycle of the heating lamps and elements
via a few relays. Sadly I missed SparkFun's free day - or rather,
their site was completely dead to me for the entire duration of their
giveaway. There's a few hundred dollars worth of parts there I would
love to get one day.

Just did a quick scan of ebay and saw some for ~$40 including
shipping...i have laser goggles but they are in the C02 range. Once
you have it in the housing, what will you use it for?

Looks like there are several Arduino enthusiasts in the area. My
makerbots are arduino/sanguino based so I've done a bit of related
hacking. I got to the checkout page during the Sparkfun day but no
farther...any particular parts you are looking for?
