Can we start donating items for the hackerspace? I think others from
Makers Alliance have dicussed donating things, and I have some items I
want to give. Including the most important piece of equipment - a
coffee maker.

I have a stack of old 32bit sparcs with keyboard/monitor, some old x86
stuff, and some 24-port managed switches if interested. Switches are
100mbit uplink but 10mbit lan. Prob still handy.

Ive got tons of cat 5 patch cables, and a crimper if we need new runs

I'll have to look through things that I have. The interest in building
a makerbot is a good idea. The only part I don't like is having a set
deadline for having it built by. I attempted to build a reprap based
on the generation 1 parts starting several years ago and was never
able to finish it due to the complexity. So I've got a bunch of parts
for that if it would be useful for a makerbot. The only thing that
made much sense to me was the maybe the stepper motors would be useful
but I think the motors got downsized to something smaller than nema
23s with the makerbot. There was also some interest in the cleveland
area with a couple of guys looking to build ponokoraps a bit back.
I'll have to see if I can find their contact info but I met them at
the sole 2600 meeting I attended.

The few other things I have are related to arduino and general
electronic bits though I have never gotten it together to start
working with them. Might have some power supplies for computers lying
around as well.

Anyways I live out in Kirtland and going into university circle isn't
a big deal for me. This google group got mentioned to me a while back
in the #reprap channel on freenode by a guy in Columbus. Also in the
#arduino channel there a lot.

So anyways I'll be around and lurking further.

Greg -

We communicated about the RepRap back in spring (via email). I've now got two working MakerBots and parts for more. Plus, I make and sell parts through MakerGear.com.

And, I'm interested in building a RepRap Mendel and have the ability to print Mendel parts. Look forward to discussing it.

Was the person in Columbus, Ethan? He's stopping by later today to pick up some parts for a MakerBot he is building.

Rick,
Good to know that I'm not just rambling to random people. :)

My concern with the Reprap and MakerBot building was based on whether
or not people had built one before. I'm not concerned now that I know
all that. I'll be checking out your website too. I've heard the Mendel
and Makerbot are easier to build then the Darwin. Probably helps
having someone who can actually display the ability to properly
construct things unlike me. I'm pretty much stalled on my Darwin still
as I don't have the space to continue working on it or much in the way
of monetary means if I need to buy something for it. Kinda comes from
living in an apartment I guess, moved there in April. Its in Kirtland
right on the middle of 306.

I'm not sure what the name of the guy I talked to is but he goes by
the handle of Snapai. His name has probably been mentioned but I can't
remember right off hand. Anyways I'm out house sitting in Mentor till
the 3rd. I'm up at crazy hours because their dog keeps waking me up in
the middle of the night. So if anything is going on between now and
then I have free time during the day. Keep me posted.

I think a Mendel would be an excellent hackerspace project. Between us we probably have most of the hardware.

The LCCC FabLab has ordered a MakerBot and I think they will be building it in February.
